World Idol: Not Just a singing competition
Who is the World Idol? If it’s referring to the famous singing competition, then I would definitely choose kelly clarkson. But who is the truly world Idol which means the only one worthy of worhip & obey? For Muslim, I think it’s none other than God (Allah Azza wa Jalla) Himself.
We can say to others that our only purpose in life is God (Allah), but the actual condition especially on our daily life, only ourselves who knows and able to answer it honestly. What is more dominant to us? What is the most influential to us? What drives us to do stuffs? What were our considerations in making decision and so on?
“Laa ilaaha illallah” means that we must make Allah as our only purpose, orientation, priority and goal in life. Sometimes we make the best efforts to make our boss happy, and in doing that sometimes we did whatever it takes even sacrificing other things that we believe is more important. Do we already have that attitude towards Allah Azza wa Jalla?
Every person in this world embedded in their selves something we called “ilaah”. That is something we run after, something that we exhaust ourselves to achieve it,something we love the most and so on. If it’s not Allah as our only ilaah, then a person must fill that hole of ilaah in their self.
An analogy from Ustadz Nouman Ali Khan speech is a good one; he said that every human being is created by Allah with this hunger or thirst. A hunger which needs tobe fulfills, and when achieving Allah is not the goal then necessarily a human being will have another goal to be fulfilled. It used to be idol or another god but nowadays is even more pathetic. There’s someone who addicted with games like Online RPG, they spend almost their entire day just playing and living their second life in the virtual world. They worked very hard to be entertained. There’s someone who addicted with their job, they can’t talk about anything else beside their job. There’s someone who obsessed with their children, day and night they think about their children, they will do anything for them and that is the only thing running through their mind.
So, what about us? Only ourselves who can answer that question honestly. Is Allah truly and already become “The One” for us? We say every time when we make shalat “Inna sholaati wanusuki wamahyaaya wama mati lillahirobbil aalamin”.Which simply mean that everything we do, we do it for Allah. So before our time will come, it’s not too late. Let’s make Allah as our truly one and only idol. And Allah Himself guarantee us that there will be no problem that can’t be solved and we will achieve true happiness in this world and in the nextlife.
